General FAQs

Do you install fences or gates?

Vinyl Craft supplies materials only. We do not provide installation or repair services. If you need an installer, we can refer you to experienced partners in your area.

Who do you sell to?

We supply contractors, builders, HOAs, property managers, and homeowners working with a contractor. If you are a homeowner, we recommend having your contractor purchase for the best trade pricing and support.

How do I get a quote?

Use our contact form or call us with your specs (style, height, linear footage, gates, caps, hardware). We will confirm availability, lead time, and pricing.

Do you deliver? Can I pick up?

Yes. We offer local pickup at our Oxnard facility and delivery throughout Southern and Central California. Delivery availability depends on order size and location.

What are typical lead times?

Stock components can often be fulfilled quickly. Custom fabrication (gates, specialty cuts) may require additional time. Your quote will include the current lead time estimate.

Do you make custom gates or specialty parts?

Yes. We provide in-house custom fabrication for vinyl gates and components, including precision routing and made-to-order sizes.

Are your products HOA friendly?

Yes. We stock popular styles and heights commonly approved by HOAs. Always verify your community’s requirements before ordering.

Do I need a permit?

Permit requirements vary by city and project scope. Consult your local building department or your contractor to confirm permitting needs before installation.

What kind of warranty do your products have?

Our materials are backed by manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranties. Many are transferable to the next owner for up to 30 years; details vary by product line.

Technical FAQs

What are Vinyl Craft building products made of?

Rigid PVC (polyvinyl chloride) homopolymer compound with titanium dioxide (TiO₂) for UV resistance and impact modifiers for strength — similar to vinyl siding and windows.

What is the warranty?

Products carry manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranties, many transferable to the next owner for up to 30 years. Refer to product documentation for coverage details.

How strong is vinyl fencing?

Vinyl profiles are impact-modified and engineered to meet or exceed performance requirements when properly installed.

Will it yellow, crack, peel, rot, or fade?

Titanium dioxide helps prevent UV degradation. Under normal conditions, you should not expect cracking, peeling, rotting, or significant fading. Discoloration protection is included in the manufacturer’s warranty.

How does it hold up in the wind?

Vinyl systems are designed for normal wind loads, performing up to 90 mph (tested to 110 mph without internal support). Higher loads can be achieved with reinforced posts.

Does vinyl get brittle in winter?

Vinyl becomes less flexible in colder temperatures but should not break under normal conditions. Profiles are engineered for seasonal temperature swings.

Does vinyl expand and contract?

Yes. Properly routed and installed systems are designed to allow for normal thermal expansion and contraction.

Is vinyl maintenance free?

Maintenance is minimal. A simple wash keeps it looking new.

How do I clean it?

Use mild detergent and water. For tougher stains, try baking soda, Soft Scrub, or Simple Green with a soft cloth. For persistent marks, gently use super-fine (0000) steel wool and test in an inconspicuous area first.

Will vinyl burn?

PVC has a flash point near 900°F and is self-extinguishing. Always follow local fire codes and use approved materials in fire-designated zones.

Why are dark colors limited?

The titanium dioxide used for UV protection is white. High pigment loading for dark colors increases heat retention, so lighter shades are more durable.

Do you cement the posts?

Yes, most vinyl fence posts are set in concrete. As a rule of thumb, dig holes about twice the post diameter. Follow local building codes for specifics.

Will it mildew or collect mold?

Prolonged moisture can lead to surface mildew, but vinyl is non-porous and cleans easily with soap and water.

How does cost compare to wood?

Vinyl is comparable to higher-grade woods when factoring in prep, priming, and painting. Over time, vinyl typically has lower maintenance costs.

Can I use it for porch or balcony railing?

Yes, when properly designed and installed to meet local code. Vinyl can be used for ground-level decks and balconies with compliant railing systems.

Can you make custom styles?

Yes. If it can be built in wood or iron, we can often fabricate a vinyl version, depending on structural and code limitations.

How tall can I make a fence?

Fences can exceed 6 feet when properly designed and reinforced. Check local building regulations before installation.

Is vinyl graffiti proof?

Not fully, but most graffiti can be removed using Simple Green or similar products with a soft cloth. For tough marks, lightly use super-fine steel wool and rinse promptly.
